Dear Mr. Houshyar,
This is Borzou, and I hope you are doing well.
I have recently taken an IELTS exam on June 15 and the results would be available in two weeks. You asked me to inform you about it, and here is what the exam was like:
I registered in Irsafam. This exam was completely different and test takers from all around Iran had been gathered in an exhibition shed.
I found the Listening and Writing tests easy:
Listening: between 32 and 39 right answers perhaps.
The Writing (task 1) involved three figures including two line graphs and a bar chart, and they were about the number of big vehicles on the road, their fuel consumption over the period shown, and the bar chart was about the number of different transport vehicles including big trucks, planes, and so on in two different years.
The Writing (task 2) involved two questions asking about the reason for the bad eating habits these days, and asking about the solution. (I put them in two different paragraphs, above 250 words, providing examples, and well structured. However, I have some spelling mistakes occasionally – eg. emittion instead of emission and some others like that )
On the other hand, the Reading was too hard. At first, I thought that it was just me, but after the exam, I saw everyone was bemoaning about it. The Milad Tower’s hanger where the exam took place there, didn’t have a good condition and affected the result indeed, but I do not think it was the main reason. It was Hard and I was stressed too when I saw that time was running out.
Speaking: My examiner was Mr. Motahari. The cue card was about (the technology that I find difficult to use, when was the first time that I used it, how often I use it, and why I think it is difficult to use). The last part was why some people find some technologies difficult, Is it more important for old people or younger ones to learn about new technologies, and because I spoke about Artificial Intelligent he asked me a little about A.I. too.
(From my viewpoint the examiner was OK and during my interview, he sometimes nodded his head for approval and made me more confident about what I was saying, however, I had a lot of stress and I do not know how I responded. I had in my mind to use a wide range of sentences but in the speaking test I totally forgot them, I also made a mistake and instead of talking about something easy like computers, I talked about automatic cars and I think that was the main reason for my stress.
I was wondering if I could ask for any comment or any piece of advice. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
