اشتباهات رایج در انگلیسی
در زبان انگلیسی قیدهایی وجود دارند که معنای تقریبا مشابهی دارند اما در بافتهای متفاوتی بکار میرند. عدم شخیص جایگاه مناسب هریک از این قیدها از اشباهات رایج انگلیسی بشمار میرد. در ادامه قیدهایی که معمولا به اشتباه بجای هم بکار برده میشوند را با ذکر مثال فهرست میکنیم.
قیدهای مشابه
به کاربرد هریک از قیدهای زیر دقت کنید:
- Very and too: say: It’s very hot in Rome in the summer. But not “too hot”. Also, say: It’s now too hot to play football. But not “very hot”.
- very and much: Say: It’s a very interesting book. but not “much interesting”. Also, say: He is much stronger than I am. But not “very stronger”
- Too much for very much: say: she likes the cinema very much. but not “too much”.
- Before for ago: say: I saw your friend 2 weeks ago. but not “2 weeks before”.
- Hardly for hard: Say: she rubbed her eyes hard. but not “hardly”.
- No so for not very: Say: I heard that he is not very rich. but not “he is not so rich”.
- Just now for presently: Say: The messenger will arrive presently. but not “just now”.
- Presently for at present: say: His uncle is in London at present. but not “presently”.
- Scarcely for rarely: say: Jack rarely comes to see me now. but not “scarcely”.
- Lately for late: say: Last night I went to bed late. but not “lately”.
